VMware Study Finds 62 Percent of Indian Organizations Increasing Cloud Training Budgets

Indian organizations are increasingly trying to hire staff with cloud expertise, and are allocating more in their budgets to coach internal IT staff on cloud initiatives, a brand new report by VMware finds.

Released on Tuesday, the third annual VMware Cloud Index 2012 finds that 62 percent of Indian organizations are increasing cloud training budgets, while 56 percent of organizations in India are actively seeking staff with cloud expertise.

This report comes as VMware has launched in-memory data platform VMware vFabric GemFire 7.0 on Tuesday.

The report paints an optimistic picture for Indian cloud service adoption, with the vast majority of organizations already leveraging virtualization, IaaS, and other cloud services. Still, 40 percent of respondents say internal resistance to alter is hindering cloud adoption of their organizations.

With this in mind, training could help warm up these internal cloud naysayers. Specifically, training around privacy, security and integration with on-premise systems may be helpful, since these are the commonest barriers to cloud adoption in India, per the report.

Despite the unease towards cloud, 54 percent of senior IT professionals consider cloud a top business priority, and 73 percent say that failure to enhance their cloud-related skills and experience increases their risk of falling behind peers professionally.

Singapore, New Zealand Web Hosts Merge to Tap Asian Cloud Market
