Red Hat to accumulate Cloud Management Company ManageIQ for $104 Million

Red Hat plans to procure cloud management company ManageIQ for $104 million in cash to lift its Red Hat hybrid cloud solutions

Open source cloud software provider Red Hat announced on Thursday that it intends to obtain cloud management company ManageIQ for $104 million in cash to lift its hybrid cloud solutions.

ManageIQ is an existing member of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Certified Partner program, and has worked closely with Red Hat to supply customers unified monitoring, management and automation solutions.

ManageIQ’s management tools offer control over server and storage provisioning, workload optimization, policy-based compliance, chargeback, virtual machine lifecycle management, discovery and control, and analytics across heterogeneous private clouds and virtualized data centers.

This acquisition comes as Red Hat updated its software to raised deliver open hybrid cloud solutions to enterprises.

ManageIQ can help you round out Red Hat’s cloud portfolio for enterprises, joining its CloudForms IaaS and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization solutions.

ManageIQ’s tools work across not just Red Hat cloud architecture, but additionally AWS, Microsoft and VMware.

“Industry and customer response to Red Hat’s vision for the open hybrid cloud have been overwhelmingly positive since it offers the fitting of both worlds: the power to tap into the general public cloud when and where it is smart, while leveraging existing investments for cloud infrastructure,” Paul Cormier, president, products and technologies, Red Hat said in a press release. “For enterprise cloud initiatives, effective cloud management is necessary. ManageIQ offers robust features, including orchestration, policy, workflow, monitoring and chargeback, that deepen Red Hat’s cloud management capabilities and produce the promise of open hybrid cloud a step closer for the industry.”

For cloud providers that desire to offer cloud management tools to their customers, partnerships or acquisitions are how to quickly offer new functionality without needing to move through a lengthy internal development process.

Recently, Red Hat announced the final availability of OpenShift Enterprise, a platform as a service.
