Colocation provider Peerless Network has opened a brand new 12,600 square-foot data center in downtown Chicago.
Colocation provider Peerless Network announced on Wednesday it has opened a brand new 12,600 square-foot data center in downtown Chicago.
Located at 840 South Canal Street, the information center will house the company’s Network Operations Center, support its data center expansion strategy and help alleviate the limited availability of premium colocation space in downtown Chicago.
Peerless invested $5 million inside the build, which created a serious variety of local construction jobs and other potential full-time jobs in the Chicago area.
The colocation provider says it has already received “multiple Letters of Intent from leading technology companies and existing customers” that account for nearly 50 percent of the available space.
“Chicago has rapidly become a hotspot for technology and business innovation,” said John Barnicle, president and CEO of Peerless Network. “Our new facility provides a cutting-edge environment to further fuel Chicago’s digital revolution. We’re more than happy that a variety our existing customers have already recognized the worth and class of this facility’s infrastructure.”
The new Chicago data center features 8,000 square feet of colocation space backed by multiple power grids, full DC battery, and a redundant UPS with dedicated backup diesel generator.
Additionally, the ability is supplied with “high-fog” pre-action fire suppression system that use 70 percent less water than typical fire supression systems, advanced cooling systems that could deliver over 350 a lot of cooling and nil points of failure to facilitate constant airflow, and temperature and humidity control.
The data center includes many advanced security measures, including bio-metric secure access, camera surveillance and monitoring.
Direct access to leading fiber providers in addition to fiber routes to other data center locations within the city.
