Next Generation Data’s tier 3 European data center has achieved SSAE 16 compliance.

European data center provider Next Generation Data announced on Monday its tier 3 European data center located near Newport, South Wales has achieved SSAE 16 standards compliance.

The compliance audit was assessed by third-party auditing organization PwC, which showed that NGD’s data center controls adheres to the top operating and reporting standards set by US and other global organizations.

NGD’s South Wales data center is about on a 120-acre business park with 750,000 square feet of information center space, which may house as much as 19,000 server racks.

By achieving compliance with the SSAE16 standard, NGD now has tangible proof that its data center services are suitable for those customers that must adjust to legal requirements inclusive of Sarbanes-Oxley.

SSAE 16 is a brand new reporting standard enforced by the Auditing Standards Board of the yankee Institute of Certified Public Accountants that effectively replaces SAS 70.

The new standard verifies that an information center’s controls and processes are effectively in place and that its design and operating effectiveness adhere to industry standards.

Web hosting providers CoreSite, FiberMedia, PEER 1, and CentriLogic all recently completed their very own SSAE 16 Type II audits.

“As a service organization, compliance with SSAE16 further shows our total commitment to creating NGD Europe one of the most safest data centers on the planet and assures customers of the integrity and robustness of our reporting systems,” said Nick Razey, CEO at Next Generation Data. “SSAE16 is of particular importance to our growing choice of US and fiscal services customers in light of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which strictly governs the storage of corporate data records including electronic files.”

Built to a US earthquake-proof design, NGD’s data center is provided with an entire range of physical security measures including double and triple skinned walls, bomb proof glass, prison grade perimeter fencing, anti-ram bollards, infra-red detection, CCTV, and ex-army security guards.

In addition, the ability has a management system, 100% renewable energy supply, a high Power Usage Effectiveness rating, and ISO 14001 and BREEAM environmental management certifications.
